Many other characters are brought into the kaleidoscopic story as Knightley and Whishaw are drawn deeper and deeper into an increasingly inscrutable plot while mountainous proportions pile up around and around them, sometimes in their hands, while Whishaw still has time. to rekindle an old romance. Sharply directed with a believable A-list cast, for me it somehow failed to deliver on its early promise by flying off the handle with an overwrought plot that relied too much on coincidences, gunplay, and weird, quirky characters. When it all comes together at the end, I felt like it fell somewhere between James Bond-style fantasy and Le Carre-style realism, and the escapism unfortunately won out in the end. I was wrong, he killed it. The same goes for Ben Whishaw, who also looks 100 pounds. Both were completely believable in their roles. I enjoyed watching this and binged all 6 episodes over the weekend. I was hooked when I started watching it. I’m glad they’re planning on doing a second season because one isn’t enough. I want to see more of these characters and the world they’ve built here. “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
